ETERNAL POETRY

Close to the two museums of Skyros, north of Horio, you will find the statue of Eternal Poetry, which was dedicated to the English poet Rupert Brook. On February 1915, the 28-year-old poet breathed his last, while sailing with the British fleet to the operation of Dardanelia.

BROOK'S GRAVE

Rupert Brook was buried in Aghia Triada, close to the port Tris Boukes, on 23rd April 1915. His mother, gratifying his last wish did not have his body retuned to England. "Leave him to the place which he alone has chosen. Let him look for the Greek sun for ever."
